9 March 2026Visual art · 2026 | Milena Sallustio
Part of Inspired by Her, the annual creative programme of The Orana Every Woman Festival. Curated by Erifili Davis. Exhibited at The Greens, Dubbo — free, for the full seven days of the festival.

Created in response to the Inspired by Her brief. Exhibited as part of the 2026 Orana Every Woman Festival, Dubbo NSW. By Milena Sallustio.
This new work, “Inspired by Her,” was created in direct response to the Orana Every Woman Festival. Inspired by my mum and my daughter, I wanted to explore the realm of Nonna Mother Daughter relationships. Dive into how this relationship develops and evolves over the course of our lifetime. I feel I know them but do I really? Do they know me?
The resulting work reflects the cyclical nature of change, the tension and love between us but overwhelmingly the gratitude that I have for the powerful women I am a part of and they a part of me.
Milena is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersection of the subconscious and reality. She creates works that delve into themes of transformation, emotional resonance, and the unseen forces that shape the human experience. With a background in fine arts, ceramics, video and art education, Milena often explores themes of memory, identity and the quiet power of symbolism. Her creative process is deeply intuitive, often beginning with an emotional or sensory spark and evolving organically into pieces that invite viewers to engage with their own emotional landscapes.
Eight women. Eight responses to the same brief.
Inspired by Her invites women artists and writers to make new work inspired by the lives, voices and stories of women from our region’s past. The 2026 exhibition opened on Monday 2 March at the Macquarie Conservatorium, with a Wiradjuri Welcome to Country by Aunty Diane McNaboe, alongside novelist Eleanor Limprecht and performer Rachael Beck.
